· AI Applications · Cem Koyluoglu

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, John Ternus has made product design the “primary priority” since becoming Apple’s CEO last month.

TL;DR Apple’s new CEO John Ternus has shifted the company’s focus to product design, visiting the design studio frequently and delegating financial and supply‑chain duties to his CFO and COO. This marks a departure from former CEO Tim Cook’s supply‑chain‑centric leadership. Ternus’s engineering background drives a product‑centric strategy.

Key Highlights • John Ternus prioritizes product design, visiting the studio several times a week. • He delegates financial and supply‑chain responsibilities to CFO Kevan Parekh and COO Sabih Khan. • This marks a shift from Tim Cook’s supply‑chain focus to a product‑centric leadership style.

Apple’s New CEO Focuses on Product Design

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that John Ternus has made product design the top priority since taking the helm as Apple’s CEO last month. In the Power On newsletter released today, Gurman wrote that Ternus, who had been the head of hardware engineering, was already in close contact with the design studio. After becoming CEO, he devoted himself to the industrial design and human‑interface teams.

According to Gurman, Ternus visits the design studio “several times a week, sometimes multiple times in a single day,” whereas former CEO Tim Cook typically visited only once a month for about an hour. While Cook is best known as a supply‑chain specialist, Ternus comes from an engineering background. Gurman notes that Ternus has largely delegated financial management to CFO Kevan Parekh and supply‑chain responsibilities to COO Sabih Khan, freeing him to concentrate on engineering and design.

In short, Apple now has a product‑centric leader at its head.
